M. Charles (Charlie) Owen, 71, of Uncasville, CT died suddenly Wednesday October 26, 2016.

He was born in Portland, Maine on February 5, 1945, the son of Laura (Small) Owen of California and the late Maurice Charles Owen. He attended schools in Bowdoin, ME and Connecticut. He served in the Vietnam War as a gunner on a Chinook, and received two bronze stars before he was honorably discharged. He belonged to the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. His career continued as a plumber, and he was last employed by local 777 in Meriden, CT.

Charlie was very generous and loved by so many. He travelled to Maine frequently to spend time with family and friends.

Besides his father he was predeceased by one grandson, Douglas Owen, and one brother, Richard Owen. He is survived by his mother, Laura Owen of Placerville, CA, his son, Mark Owen of Uncasville, CT, grandson Benjamin Owen of Sprague, CT, sister Donna Bull of Placerville, CA, and brother Robert Owen of Yelm, Washington.

A Celebration of Life was held in Uncasville, CT on November 5, 2016. Funeral arrangements were under the Guillot Funeral Home in Taftville, CT.
