OLD ORCHARD BEACH — There’s a seat for everyone at the table Sunday, at OOB365’s community dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 14 Imperial St.

The local economic development group is hosting a free turkey dinner with all the fixings — homemade bread, stuffing, butternut squash, peas, mashed potatoes and “more desserts than there probably should be,” said OOB365 President Sharri MacDonald.

No pre-registration is necessary, just show up for dinner and friendly conversation.

The organization hosts three community dinners a year, a tradition that started in 2009 and has proved to be continually popular, said MacDonald. More than 40 people have signed up to volunteer for Sunday’s dinner — cooking, serving food and cleaning up.

“This event really brings the whole community together,” said MacDonald.

OOB365 Treasurer Israel Collins concurred and said the dinner is “a feel-good event” that brings the community together for a wonderful meal.

“We all sit together at the same tables and share a communal meal. It’s very equalizing and humbling,” he said. “We sit next to each other regardless of religious, class, racial, or political differences and we discuss what’s going on in our community and in our lives.”

Leftovers are donated to Arthur B. Huot House, a transitional living program for veterans in Saco.

“Nothing goes to waste,” said MacDonald.
