LEBANON, N.H. (AP) — A group that supports community development in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont has been awarded $50 million in tax credits.

The credits for Mascoma Community Development will help the Lebanon, New Hampshire-based organization raise capital and facilitate loans for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

The credits are provided by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, which promotes development in economically distressed urban and rural areas.

The tax credits were announced by Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
