BRUNSWICK — Louise Litchfield McIntire, age 88, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2016.

She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, to Doris and Paul Litchfield.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Justin McIntire and brothers Paul and Dan Litchfield.

She is survived by a daughter, Gail and husband Charles Howard of Westport, New Zealand; a son Glenn and his wife Marion Doyle of Freeport; and a son Dana and his wife Susan of Harpswell; grandchildren Jesse, Christine, Christopher and Anne; step granddaughters, Hayleigh and Casey Doyle; great-grandchildren, Orianna and Owen.

She graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1946 and the University of Maine, Orono in 1950.

She was an avid tennis and bridge player. She taught elementary school in West Harpswell from 1969-1973. As a young bride in the 1950s, she was active with the March of Dimes, the World Day of Prayer and the Christmas Fair at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Brunswick. She held the position of chairman for each of these organizations. In Harpswell, where she and Justin built a home and lived from 1957-2015 (16), she was active with the Scouting Association and fundraising for the town tennis courts. She was an accomplished floral artist who was a member of the Harpswell Garden Club, and won many Club awards.

A memorial service will be held at 1:15 pm Saturday December 3rd in the chapel at Coastal Landing, 142 Neptune Drive, Brunswick. At the request of family, the burial will be private.
