PHILADELPHIA — Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes to Davante Adams and the Green Bay Packers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-13 Monday night to snap a four-game losing streak.
Rodgers had 313 yards passing and Adams had 113 yards receiving to help send Philadelphia (5-6) to its first home loss this season.
The Packers (5-6) kept their sinking playoff hopes alive but they’re still two games behind the Lions (7-4) in the NFC North.
Carson Wentz had 254 yards passing, ran for a score and threw an interception. The last-place Eagles are 2-6 since a 3-0 start.
Rodgers came out firing and led the Packers on consecutive touchdown drives to start the game. Rodgers extended the opening drive by running twice for 25 yards and tossed a 12-yard TD pass to Adams for a 7-0 lead.
After the Eagles answered on Wentz’s 1-yard TD run , Rodgers led another 75-yard scoring drive. He threw a perfect 20-yard TD pass to Adams to give the Packers a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter. Nolan Carroll had excellent coverage on the play, but Rodgers put the ball in a tight spot and hit Adams in stride in the back of the end zone.
Aaron Ripkowski’s 1-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter extended Green Bay’s lead to 24-13.
The Eagles had allowed only three touchdowns at home while outscoring opponents 108-38 in their first four games at Lincoln Financial Field.
Green Bay gave up at least 30 points in each of its previous four games, including 89 in the last two. But the defense harassed Wentz and shut down the Eagles’ inconsistent offense.
Philadelphia’s Caleb Sturgis kicked field goals of 48 and 50 yards and Green Bay’s Mason Crosby connected from 33 and 32 yards.
JETS: Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain New York’s starting quarterback for the team’s game Monday night against the Indianapolis Colts.
Coach Todd Bowles made the announcement a day after the Jets lost 22-17 to the New England Patriots and fell to 3-8.
Fitzpatrick was mostly solid against New England, going 22 of 32 for 269 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, but fumbled on New York’s final drive when he was hit while attempting to throw. The Patriots recovered and ran out the clock.
With the Jets all but eliminated from playoff contention, some fans and media are calling for the Jets to play Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg to evaluate the young quarterbacks. Bowles said there will come a time for them, but said Fitzpatrick gives New York the best chance to win now – which remains his goal.
COLTS: Coach Chuck Pagano said Indianapolis is optimistic QB Andrew Luck will play Monday night against the New York Jets after missing Thursday’s game with a concussion.
Luck was injured in a Nov. 20 victory over Tennessee and was not cleared from the concussion protocol in time to play against Pittsburgh.
BEARS: Linebacker Danny Trevathan will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured right patellar tendon.
Trevathan was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 27-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Coach John Fox said Trevathan will go on injured reserve.
TITANS: Tennessee is heading into its bye week with a fresh reminder of just how demanding – and brutal – the NFL can be.
After climbing to 6-6 and a half-game back of first in the AFC South, Tennessee released starting cornerback Perrish Cox Monday before the Titans left for a week off.
Washington: Tight end Jordan Reed estimated he has only 30 percent range of motion in his sprained left shoulder but hasn’t ruled out playing Sunday at the Arizona Cardinals.
Reed didn’t practice Monday with what he said was a Grade 3 sprain of the AC joint in his left shoulder. That means he tore two ligaments in that shoulder during a 31-26 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, though he returned and played through pain.
BROWNS: Offensive lineman John Greco has been placed on injured reserve after hurting his right foot in Sunday’s loss to New York.
Greco started all 12 games for the winless Browns, who have been overrun by injuries all season.
He started 10 games at right guard and two at center. Greco did not miss a snap before he was injured in the third quarter of the 27-13 loss to the Giants.
VIKINGS: Wide receiver Stefon Diggs has returned to practice after being held out of the previous game because of a knee injury.
The Vikings missed Diggs during their 16-13 loss at Detroit last week. The team’s leader with 67 receptions and 747 yards has missed two of 11 games this season.
RAMS: Eric Dickerson is welcome on the Los Angeles Rams’ sideline anytime.
Rams COO Kevin Demoff tweeted reassurance at the Hall of Fame running back shortly after Dickerson claimed he was no longer allowed on the sideline due to his criticism of the team.
Dickerson made the claim on his radio show on KLAC-AM, saying he had been told he makes the players uncomfortable. Demoff said that’s absolutely not the case. He reached out to Dickerson to find out how any miscommunication could have occurred.
