BRUNSWICK — Theodore F. Gaudreau, formerly of Bath, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26th, 2016 at the Gosnell Hospice House, Scarborough, ME.

Ted was born March 17, 1933 in Brunswick a son of Mathias and Dorothy Crooker Gaudreau and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1951. Young Teddy immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he served in the I Company Third Battalion, Fifth Marine regiment, First Marine Division, serving in Korea from August 1952 to August 1953. Sergeant Gaudreau was awarded the Purple Heart medal.

Following his service to his Country, Ted met and married the love of his life Nancy G. Small on May 27, 1956 in Bath, Maine where they raised their three children. He was hired in 1955 as a civilian to guard the main gate at BNAS. He subsequently worked as a police officer and then as a detective on the base, retiring in 1988.

He was a lifetime member of the Topsham American Legion, and a former Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pitman Morrison Post 7738. Ted received the Silver Star award in 2010. In 2011 he was honored by the town of Brunswick with the privilege of being the Grand Marshall for the Memorial Day Parade. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Bath, he served as moderator, trustee, usher and caretaker of the grounds. In the community he was an active member of the YMCA, as well as volunteering his time at the Soup Kitchen in Bath.

To everyone that knew him, Ted had a superior work ethic, loving nature and exhibited a great sense of humor. He led by example, with his priorities being God, family, country.

He is predeceased by a son, Peter Gaudreau, as well as two brothers, Donald Gaudreau and Jacques Gaudreau.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gaudreau, now of Brunswick; two daughters, Linda Fenderson and her husband Miles of Falmouth, Holly Hallowell and her husband Brian of Mount Vernon; a sister, Pauline Wyman of Brunswick; two grandsons, Matthew Hallowell and his wife Robyn of Boulder, CO., Spencer Hallowell and his wife Mary McClintock of North Hampton, MA; three granddaughters, Kelsey Hagan and her husband Evan of Hudson, NH, Haley Fenderson and Taylor Fenderson of Portland, ME and a great grandson, Rowan Hallowell of Boulder, CO.

A memorial service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Bracket Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME. Interment will take place in Harding Cemetery, Brunswick.
