And while there’s no official count of how many books it took, Springvale Public Library is sporting a Christmas tree this season much in keeping with their mission — it is constructed of books.
It took Karen Howell and assistant library director Dawn Brown almost a full day to construct the tree, which graces the front parlor of the library — where it will be on full display throughout the season.
Brown and Howell loaded the volumes onto book carts and into the elevator that brought them from the basement to the first floor and then set about to construct the tree.
“We’ve bene wanting to do this for years and years,” said Brown.
As it turned otu, this was the year.
She said the library tree has brought a lot of action on social media — 13,000 views at last count.
Folks may view it at any time. And it will be a focus on Thursday, Dec. 15 when the library hosts a Holiday Tea, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features brewed tea, with cookies baked by patrons and served at tables dressed with lace cloths.
