Wreath making for kids

Children ages 3 and up are invited to make a balsam wreath for the holiday season at the Pineland Farms Education Barn. Classes will be held from 10-11:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10; Tuesday, Dec. 13; and Thursday, Dec. 15.

Locals headline concert

A New Gloucester Christmas provides an evening of Christmas music performed by New Gloucester-based musicians. They include the members of Bald Hill, Ben DeTroy on mandolin/fiddle, Chris Ricardi on guitar, Renée St. Jean on vocals/guitar, Hal Phillips on vocals/guitar and Todd Burrowes on bass. Also in the lineup are noted guitarist and songwriter Jim Gallant, George Wardwell, Mike Conant and Kim Chasse.

Bring your friends and neighbors to the First Congregational Church sanctuary, 19 Gloucester Hill Road, on Friday, Dec. 16, from 7-9 p.m. Proceeds derived from a suggested donation of $10 per person will be contributed to a charity. Call 926-4310 or 926-3260 for more information.

Candlelight service

The First Congregational Church of New Gloucester, 19 Gloucester Hill Road, will be hold its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, 7-8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 24. The service of lessons and carols will be led by Pastor Linda Gard. Organist and music director John Terison will provide organ and piano accompaniment and lead anthems by the Sanctuary and Chime Choirs.

Dog licenses

Dog licenses are now available for 2017 at the New Gloucester town office. Or, you can get license online for an extra $1 per dog – look under Services at www.maine.gov. Every dog needs to be licensed upon reaching the age of 6 months or after the dog has been with the family for 10 days, if adopted.

All dog licenses expire Dec. 31 of each year. Spayed or neutered dogs are $6 and unaltered are $11. If a new dog is being registered, bring the rabies vaccination certificate along with the spay/neutering certificate.

Snowmobile registrations

You may now license your snowmobile for the 2016-17 season. If your snowmobile was purchased in a private sale, no dealer involved, a bill of sale and the old registration are needed. Sales tax will be collected at the time of registration.

Christmas holiday closing

All town facilities will close at noon on Friday, Dec. 23, and they will be closed all day on Monday, Dec. 26. The transfer station and public library will be closed all day on Saturday, Dec. 24.
