BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College’s Joseph McKeen Center for the Common Good is releasing its 2016- 2017 Common Good Grant application. This year, community organizations may apply for a grant of up to $2,500. For the first time ever, organizations can also apply for a $5,000 grant that may increase their impact on their constituents. All 501(c)3 organizations that serve, or are based in, Bath, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Brunswick, Freeport, Georgetown, Harpswell, Lisbon, Lisbon Falls, Phippsburg, Topsham, Woolwich and Yarmouth are eligible to apply.

Started in 2001, the Common

Good Grant was designed with the intent of supporting local non-profit groups by offering funding to maintain existing programs and to start new initiatives. Since its inception, the Common Good Grant Program has awarded nearly $250,000 to fund 131 projects in the greater Brunswick area; in the recent years, the total amount awarded has exceeded $20,000 annually.

All grant applications must be postmarked by Jan. 29, 2017, and organizations that move to the final round will be contacted to schedule site visits with committee members in early March.
