ROCKPORT (AP) — Charges will be dropped against a former worker who brought a loaded gun to school at Camden-Rockport Elementary School if she stays out of trouble in the coming year.
Meaghan Collier, an education technician from Tenants Harbor, pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor charge under an agreement in which the case will be dismissed in 12 months if she performs community service and avoids any further legal troubles.
The 23-year-old Collier told police she didn’t mean to bring the handgun to school.
She put the gun in a container after walking her dog and inadvertently brought the container to school, placing in the refrigerator in the staff lunchroom.
Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Baroody said the resolution of the case was appropriate given Collier’s remorse and acceptance of responsibility.
