BATH
At its first meet of the year, the Bath YMCA girls gymnastics team showed strong skills and performances by both new and veteran gymnasts.
At home, the team competed against the Auburn /Lewiston YMCA in two sessions.
Bath newcomer Sophie Frizzle finished in first in the Level 2 division. Behind her were newcomers Eloise Johnson, who scored first on beam and bars, followed by Neela Forestell in third overall. Forestell had an outstanding first vault of 9.3.
In another division of Level 2, new team members captured first through fifth place. In first was Mya Snyder, second Harriet Mishkin, third Eveyln Goudreau, fourth, Caitlyn Levine and in fifth Madison Capella. Returning gymnast Allie Tatham had a strong meet, winning three of four events in her Level 3 division. In second, was Kyra Fortier, who scored a 9.3 on vault. Third place went to Kate Campbell, fourth to Nataleigh Cantrell, fifth to Campbell Jacobs and sixth to Charlotte Hilton. Bath’s Ava Wolverton swept her Level 4 division with an overall score of 33.05. In an older Level 4 division, Molly Newell came in first in all four events, leading her to a first place win. Aurora Jameson followed in third and Sophie Wood in fourth.
Hannah Baker came in first in her division with high scores in vault and bars.
Julianne Salko competed at the Level 5 division and finished in second.
At Level 6, Anna Yankee took first place overall after a first place in both the bars and beam. Elizabeth Bingham scored first in vault and floor and finished in a tie for second place with teammate Grace Delano.
With a first in vault and beam, Bath’s Kallie Maney captured first overall in the Excel Gold division. Close behind was teammate Alamea McCarthy, who scored first in bars and floor with a second-place finish overall. Caroline Carter placed fifth in this division.
Audrey Crews of the Bath team had an incredible meet, taking first in all four events with 9.0s and higher, earning her first overall in the Excel Gold division. Her overall score of 36.400 was the highest of the meet. Teammate Tori Hersey competed well in the same division, earning fourth place.
High school Excel Gold gymnasts from the Bath team swept their division. In first was Gabriella Taylor, who also tied for first on vault, but won beam. In second place was Carly Lister with a first place on bars. In third was Charlotte Carter with a first place tie for vault. With a first place in floor, Jennie Bakewell finished with a fourth-place finish overall.
In the Excel Silver Junior A division, Bath’s Caroline Thelan scored a 9.4 on vault, earning a first-place overall win. In second overall was LilyPowers with a first-place finish on bars and beam. Sabrina Staeben came in third and Crystal Bachelder fourth in this division. Bath’s Nastassja DeLoge swept all of the events with a first place in beam, bars, floor and vault, earning her first-place overall in the Excel Silver Junior B division. In second was new team member Marissa Zavitz and in fourth Alexa Scott.
With an overall high score of 36.250, Emma Dobransky earned first place in the Excel Silver Senior A division. She came in first in all four events including a 9.2 on vault and a 9.2 on beam. Bath’s Arianna Baker came in second, followed by teammate Grace Campbell in third place. Tatiana Scott won her division after scoring a 9.1 on vault, 9.2 on beam and 9.1 on floor. Close behind in second place was teammate Michaela Anderson with a 9.250 on bars.
The Bath team will next compete with the Downeast YMCA at home on Jan. 14.
