Mr. Mehlsak invited your readers to give you input on what you do well and what you could do better recently. I have been a subscriber of the American Journal for many years starting when I lived in Standish, my hometown. I have continued getting the American Journal even though I no longer live in the area. I enjoy getting the news from the Westbrook area and occasionally hear about people I know.

Although most articles are of interest, there is one regular column in the weekly issues that seems to offer nothing but negativity; it is the one written by Al Diamon. I used to look forward to Rodney Quinn’s Corner and miss his witty, intelligent and humorous commentary. While I realize that Mr. Quinn cannot begin to be replaced, I find it ironic that the column is now being written by someone who is his exact opposite. If there is any value in reading the comments made by Mr. Diamon, I fail to see it.

It seems rather perverse that in this rather bleak time of our country that we have to be subjected to the comments of someone who appears to be very mean-spirited and does not seem to even have the capacity to be humorous. Surely, you could do better.
