PORTLAND

South Portland/Freeport/ Waynflete scored four goals in the second period en route to a 4-1 victory over Brunswick in a boys high school hockey game on Thursday.

The Dragons fell to 0-2-1, while the Red Riots improved to 1-1.

Jared Hummer gave Brunswick a 1-0 lead when he scored while the Dragons were shorthanded.

But, the hosts tied the game early in the middle frame on an Aidan Schifano goal and claimed the lead less than two minutes later when Schifano scored again.

Mitchell Adam and Atticus Patrick added a goal each to complete the scoring.

Owen Patrick led the Red Riots with three assists, and goaltender Joe Grant earned the win.

Riley Kirk manned the cage for Brunswick, which visits Cheverus on Saturday at 8 p.m.

South Portland/Freeport/ Waynflete is slated to visit Noble/Wells on Saturday at 6 p.m.

LEWISTON — Katie Clemmer scored five goals and Caroline Grant picked up a hat trick as Yarmouth/Freeport/ Gray-New Gloucester (4-3) earned an 8-3 victory over Lewiston/ Monmouth/Oak Hill on Wednesday.

Grant assisted on three of Clemmer’s goals, and goaltender Violet Leith earned the win. Paige Rinaldi, Sydney St. Pierre, Lydia Guay and Kyaira Grondin each chipped in an assist.
