CAPE ELIZABETH — The Morse High School girls jayvee basketball team jumped out to an early lead, but eventually came up short to Cape Elizabeth, 53- 35 recently.
The Shipbuilders (1-2) started the game on a 13-5 run and led 21-19 at halftime before the host Capers reeled off 18 points in the third quarter en route to the win.
Dory Kulis led Morse with 13 points, while Marija Mendenica posted 12 and Paige Faulkingham four. Abby Sreden (three points) and Ali Donovan (two points) also contributed. The Shipbuilders hit 9-of-23 free throws.
Four different players scored at least 10 points for Cape Elizabeth, which went 5-for-8 at the free-throw line.
