MACHIAS — The jury in the trial of a Maine man charged with killing a couple and setting fire to their home has returned some guilty verdicts, but it’s still deliberating the murder charges.
Jurors on Wednesday convicted Matthew Davis of four counts of arson, three counts of theft and one count of aggravated criminal mischief. The judge asked jurors to return Thursday to continue deliberating the murder charges.
Prosecutors say Davis shot Heidi Pratt, 49, and then Michael Kitchen, 51, before setting the home afire in the northern town of Oakfield.
The trial was moved to Washington County Superior Court in Machias after a judge was unable to seat a jury in Aroostook County.
