YORK COUNTY —There are some options available for those who enjoy the company of others at their Christmas meal and might otherwise be alone or those who may be down on their luck and unable to cobble together the resources for a traditional dinner. All are on Sunday — Christmas Day.

“No one should be alone or hungry on Christmas,” say sponsors of the free Christmas meal put on annually by the Hadiaris family and friends at Traditions, 162 Main St. in in Saco.

Here are details for that meal, and two others:

* Folks can sign up through 6 p.m. today for Christmas dinner at Traditions at 162 Main St. in Saco. The 1 to 3 p.m. event marks the 18th year the Hadiaris family and their friends have put on a free-family-style meal. Dinner choices include home-cooked roast chicken or baked ham with all the fixings served restaurant-style. A wide array of desserts will be provided by the employees of Saco and Biddeford Savings Institution.

To reserve a dinner and or reserve a table for a group, call 282-9373 before 6 p.m. today.  Organizers say if an answering machine picks up, leave a name, the number of people the reservation is for, and a phone number. Calls will be returned to confirm the reservation time. A limited number of meals are also available for delivery to those residents in Saco, Biddeford and Old Orchard Beach who are unable to leave their home or do not have transportation. Walk-ins will be served if space allows after those with reservations are seated.

* In Kennebunk, residents of Arundel, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Wells will be welcomed at Community Harvest’s Noel Dinner. The complimentary Christmas dinner in at 1 p.m. at St. Martha Church, 34 Portland Road, Kennebunk. Call 207-967-1911 for reservations. Walk-ins are welcome and take-outs are available. 

* In Sanford, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at 1 Hutchinson St. hosts a VFW Christmas Open House with a full Christmas meal for anyone in need of food and good fellowship. The event is 1 p.m. until the food runs out.  Call 324-1142.
