BRUNSWICK

The Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/ Morse boys high school hockey team was stymied by Lawrence/ Skowhegan goaltender Curtis Martin for two-and-a-half periods.

But after a barrage of 65 shots on goal for the game, the Eagles ultimately prevailed, 3-2 Wednesday night at Sidney J. Watson Arena, evening their record at 2-2 in Class A North.

Eagles forward Tyler LaCascio scored the game’s first goal unassisted less than a minute into the game.

From there Martin shut the door for the next 36 minutes. Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/ Morse (2-2) held a 1-0 lead after the first period after an overwhelming 28- 1 lead in shots.

The Bandits hung tough in the second and tied things up late on a powerplay goal by Cody Dixon. Moments later, Lawrence/ Skowhegan forward Gunnar Hann was awarded a penalty shot and slipped his shot past Mt. Ararat/ Lisbon/ Morse goaltender Parker Lacey with 17 seconds to go in the middle frame.

Despite out-shooting the Bandits 49-5 trough two frames, the Eagles were down a goal.

In the third period, the Eagles continued to pour on the shots and tied the game when Sam Alexander converted a pass from Owen Kelly.

One minute later, Noah Austin received a breakout pass from LaCascio and beat a defender and Martin to give the hosts a 3-2 advantage.

Lacey made seven saves for the win, while Martin finished with 62 stops.

After playing in a holiday tournament at Gorham Dec. 28, the Eagles travel to defending State Class A champion Lewiston on Dec. 30.
