LEWISTON — Without leading scorer Nina Davenport and key reserve Kelli Kennedy, the Bates College women’s basketball team fell to the WPI Engineers, 51-44 Monday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.
Former Brunswick High School standout Lyse Henshaw had a big game for the Bobcats, recording 18 points, including four 3-pointers.
Henshaw’s layup late in the opening quarter gave Bates an 11-10 lead. Henshaw followed by knocking down a trey for a 17-12 advantage in the second quarter as the Bobcats carried a 19-17 lead into the intermission.
But, WPI rallied in the third quarter to take control.
Bates is scheduled to play in the Salem State Holiday Classic beginning on Dec. 29.
