HENRY POPE practices his welding skills in the Region Ten Technical High School Metal Fabrication/Welding class recently. The program combines the teaching of two trades: Welding and metal fabrication. Students learn general metallurgy, layout, oxyacetylene welding, shielded metal arc welding, flame cutting, brazing and sheet metal fabrication among other skills. Students have the opportunity to earn American Welding Society certification before they graduate high school and the program has an articulation agreement with Eastern Maine Community College for advanced placement.
