SPRINGVALE — Springvale Public Library has outlined a number of events to keep kids engaged from now through March.

• Story Time is designed for children ages 3 to 6  and rstarts at 10 a.m. on Mondays from Jan . 9 to March 27. This weekly, free 45 minute story time features a variety of stories, finger plays, songs and activities.  No registration required, just drop-in.  Story Time will not be meeting on Jan. 16 and Feb. 20. 

• Baby Rhyme Time is for parents and caregivers with their babies who are under 3-years-old. The program consists of 30 minutes of rhymes, songs, and board books followed by open-ended free play Thursdays at 10 a.m.  through March 30. This lively and brief program of fun, early literacy activities is held weekly in the community room.  This free program does not require registration, just drop-in.

• Homeschool Snack & Play Hour is designed for all families that homeschool and unschool. Springvale Library hosts this game and snack hour for homeschool families on the second Tuesday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the community room. Feel free to bring in a snack to share and any board games  to play with the group. The group will meet Jan. 10 to learn about internet safety from Cpl. Matthew Gagne of the Sanford Police Department.

• Coding Club: Children in grades K to 6 are invited to try their hand at simple computer coding with various technologies and games.  The Coding Club meets monthly in the children’s room from 4 to 5 p.m.  The club will meet Jan. 17, Feb. 21 and March 21.  This program is a collaboration between the library and Sanford School Department..

• Lego Builders Club: Children of all ages and abilities are welcome to come build creations the last Tuesday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m.  Legos are provided. The club will be meeting Jan. 31, Feb. 28 and March 28. 

• Take Your Child to the Library Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 in the Springvale Public Library children’s room. There will be special bookmarks, tours and a craft.

• Winter Reading Program:  Ice Cream for Books! Get ready for some lip-smacking cool reads and sign up for the winter reading program beginning Jan. 30 .Children can participate whenever the library is open in this free, non-competitive reading program for children ages 2 to 13.  Everyone is welcome; children with reading disabilities are encouraged to join.  Read books, create an ice cream cone, and claim your Shain’s Ice Cream coupon during the final week.
