LIBERTY, Maine – Fire officials say a man was hurt after a manufacturing facility in Liberty caught fire, leading to several explosions because of hazardous materials that were inside.

WLBZ-TV reports fire crews from nearly a dozen towns responded to Magnum Manufacturing Inc. on state Route 3 on Sunday night.

Officials say a man believed to be leasing the space has been taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.

Liberty Fire Chief Bill Gillespie says firefighters experienced difficulties due to the low temperatures. Gillespie says firefighters had to move around on ice while holding a charged line.

The building was destroyed.

The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
