SCARBOROUGH, (AP) — The son of a Maine lawmaker has been charged with having meth and operating under the influence.
Police say they found 25-year-old Dylan Volk in the driver’s seat of a running car in Scarborough early Sunday after someone reported a car had gone off the road.
Police arrested him after smelling alcohol and conducting a field sobriety test. Police say they also found a straw and a rock-like substance in a headphone case. Tests showed the substance was methamphetamine.
Volk, who was released on $260 bail, is the son of Republican state Sen. Amy Volk, of Scarborough. It’s unclear if he’s retained a lawyer.
Amy Volk said no family is immune from the drug epidemic. She said she loves her son and respects that he’s taking responsibility and seeking treatment.
