Bud was born Feb. 23, 1915 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Ruth Simpson from Goteborg, Sweden and Francis Simpson.
Bud served the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the Mediterranean Theater aboard a mine sweeper. He served in Sicily, Southern France, Africa and at Anzio clearing the way for the invasion. Bud received five Bronze Medals for his service to his country.
After the war, Bud went back to Old Orchard and married Virginia Day. They had two children; Cathy and Stacey. Bud was an active member for many years to the Old Orchard Beach Kiwanis Club, and owner of Dickson & Simpson grocery store, on the corner of Washington and Atlantic Avenue.
He was predeceased by his wife Virginia, daughter Stacey, brother, Philip, and sister, Miriam. Bud is survived by his daughter, Cathy Hawkes, of Orland, granddaughter; Elke, and three great-grandchildren.
Bud will be buried at the Greenwood Cemetery in Biddeford with his wife and daughter. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the OldOrchardBeach, Alumni Association.
