The Bowdoin College women’s ice hockey team toppled eighth-ranked Connecticut College, 3-0, in a contest played outdoors at Fenway Park on Thursday evening.

The Polar Bears, appearing in their first-ever Frozen Fenway game, improved to 8-2-2 (3-1-1 NESCAC), while the Camels fell to 7-3-2 (4-2 NESCAC). The victory also happened to be the 100th in the coaching career of Bowdoin’s Marissa O’Neil.

Bowdoin goaltender and Harpswell native Kerri St. Denis earned her second shutout in her last three starts with 24 saves.

Scoreless midway through the second period, the Polar Bears scored the only goal they needed when Maegan Sheehan jumped on a loose puck off a shot from Marissa Fichter and beat Camels goaltender Katherine Chester (15 saves) for a 1-0 lead.

Julie Dachille made it a 2-0 contest a minute later on an end-to-end rush. Dachille assisted teammate Brooke Solomon to complete the scoring at 12:43 of the final period.

Bowdoin visits Amherst on Saturday and Sunday.
