AUGUSTA (AP) — The families of murder victims who helped get a cold case unit formed in Maine a few years ago are calling for changes.
Families say they’re being kept in the dark about efforts to solve the cases — and some think more resources are needed.
Linda Perkins, whose husband went missing 40 years ago, said she might get answers when the Maine Legislature agreed to fund the cold case unit two years ago. But she tells WCSH-TV that she was told her case isn’t a priority and that efforts are being focused on newer cases.
The cold case unit says there are more than 100 unsolved homicides and missing person cases. The team includes two detectives, a lieutenant, a prosecutor, a lab technician and a victim advocate.
