LISBON
The Lisbon Town Council will hold a workshop Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. at the town office to discuss dispatch consolidation.
The meeting had been scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 24 but was postponed due to anticipated incliment weather.
Dispatch consolidation with Androscoggin County’s dispatch service is something town officials looked into in 2015 and ultimately decided against. Androscoggin County’s dispatch service currently handles the town’s emergency 911 calls.
Lisbon Town Manager Diane Barnes said since four new councilors have joined the council, there have been many questions and comments from residents.
Barnes said councilors decided to hold a workshop with stakeholders to ask questions and gather information. The workshop on the issue does not mean there is another proposal to consolidate the town’s dispatch services, she said. It is a good opportunity to ask questions.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
