Today’s wintery mess of a storm has led to a number of cancellations in the Midcoast.

The National Weather Service called for rain, freezing rain and sleet before noon today. Sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain, may occur between noon and 1 p.m. followed by rain. A total daytime sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible, with less than 1- tenth of an accumulation of ice. By Wednesday morning the area may see an accumulation of less than a half inch of snow.

Schools in RSU 1, RSU 5, MSAD 75, Brunswick, St. John’s, Harpswell Coastal Academy and West Bath were among those that had closed, as were West Bath District Court, People Plus and Independence Association.

A browntail moth talk scheduled for 6 p.m. at Topsham Public Library has been postponed until Thursday. Maine Forest Service entomologist Charlene Donahue will be sharing the latest information about the pest and how to combat them. The event will be at the same time and place.

A Lisbon Town Council workshop on dispatch consolidation has been rescheduled for next Tuesday.

The meeting will still take place at 6 p.m. at the town office on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
