BIDDEFORD — Tefta A. Tito, 93, of Biddeford, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at St. Andre Health Care in Biddeford.

Tefta will be remembered as an exceptionally kind, thoughtful and fashionable woman who was devoted to her entire family and was loved dearly by everyone who knew her.

She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on Jan. 8, 1924, a daughter of Anthony and Celia (Phillips) George.

Tefta graduated with honors at the early age of 16 from South Boston High School, Class of 1940.

Earlier, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Little Brown and Company Book Publishers in Boston, Massachusetts. After marrying her husband Stephen, she became a full-time homemaker, raising her family.

Mrs. Tito was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco. She also volunteered for many years at the Saco Museum.

She was preceded in death by; her husband, Stephen; her beloved daughter, Stephanie; her beloved son, David; her firstborn grandson Samuel; as well as her dear sister, Rita Saro.

She is survived by: her siblings, Helen George Ryan and Stephen R. George; grandchildren, Jasmin Augustin, Eliza, Isaac and Audrey Tito; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Arianna, Caden, Maya and Alidia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephew, including Cynthia DeSantes, Louis Saro, Jeanne Wolfson and Kristen George. Special thanks from the George family to Tefta’s guardian Norma Haug.

Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with Trisagion Prayers at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco. Burial will follow in St. Demetrios Cemetery in Biddeford.
