GEORGETOWN — The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust invites the public to the Morse Pond Preserve in Georgetown on Saturday,
Feb. 25 at 9:30 a.m. for a free meditative walk in the winter woods. The walk will be led by clinical psychologist and KELT volunteer Bobby Carnicella.
For the final outing in KELT’s Winter Wonderland series, the goal will be to encourage participants to engage fully in their senses to experience a winter walk. Carnicella will offer some initial guidelines on how to walk in nature mindfully and talk briefly about the benefits of experiencing the outdoors in a mindful attitude.
The walk will be mostly silent and observational with occasional reminders from the leader to refocus attention back to the present moment.
Because winter weather can be unpredictable, this event will only be postponed in the case of severe weather. Participants are encouraged to wear snowshoes. Register by contacting Becky Kolak at [email protected] or (207) 442-8400.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
