BIDDEFORD — Edmond R. Gonneville, 86, of Biddeford died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017 at Biddeford Estates. 

He was born Oct. 12, 1930 in Biddeford, a son of Edgar and Hazel (Cobb) Gonneville and was educated locally.  He was a graduate of St. Louis High School.

On June 1, 1957, he married Theresa Paquette in St. Andre Church in Biddeford. 

Edmond worked as an auto mechanic in local garages including Ted’s Gulf at Main and Elm Streets in Biddeford for 24 years, and with Maurice Guay’s Getty, at the same location, for a few more years, retiring in 1996.

He had been a member of St. Andre and St. Joseph Churches, the Eagles (Aerie 804) in Biddeford, and the Knights of Columbus, Luke E. Hart Council.  He was an avid lifetime bowler, and enjoyed playing pool at the Eagles club; playing cards with neighboring friends was also a source of enjoyment.

He was predeceased by his wife Theresa on June 12, 1974, his mother and step-father, Hazel and Napoleon Foucault, two brothers Guy Gonneville and Roger Gonneville, one sister Ruth Menard, and a half-sister Irene Beaudette.

Surviving are a daughter, Jeanne Gonneville and her fiancé Bill Bray of Biddeford; a son, Raymond E. Gonneville and his wife Paulette of Waterboro; a brother, Bernard Gonneville of Falmouth; two granddaughters, Amanda and Samantha Gonneville; and two great-grandsons, Zachary and Travis Rhodes.

Visiting Hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel.
