ALFRED — Gerard E. Chretien, 92, of Alfred, passed away on Wednesday March 1, 2017 at St. Andre’s Home in Biddeford.
He was born in Biddeford on May 7, 1924 a son of the late Alphonse and Corinne (Paul) Chretien. He served in U.S. Army during WWII.
For many years he had been employed as a machinist retiring from Kitter Press in Dover. He was a member and former vice president of the St. Louis Alumni and Association in Biddeford.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Andrea (Courtois) Chretien of Alfred; children, Roger Chretien of Flagstaff, Arizona; Gerald Chretien of Waterboro; Linda Reed of Derry, New Hampshire; Daniel Chretien of Marshfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Cheryl Chretien, Jennifer Chretien and Stacy Chretien.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at 1p.m. at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
