The Bowdoin College women’s lacrosse team scored the first 10 goals of the game en route to a 14-5 non-conference win over Endicott at Ryan Field on Wednesday night.

Fighting bitterly cold conditions and gale-force winds, the 15th-ranked Polar Bears improved to 4-1 while the Gulls fell to 3-3.

Bowdoin hit the throttle and didn’t let up in the first half, pushing the game to the 10-goal mark with 7:30 left in the opening half. The Polar Bears got three goals in the run from Allison Williams, while Hannah Hirschfeld and Kelsey Gallagher each scored twice.

Meghan Dutchyshyn stopped the bleeding for Endicott, getting a goal on the board at 4:09 before Jennifer Lacroix made it 10-2 at the 2:10 mark. Bowdoin’s Kara Finnerty scored her second goal of the opening half to make it 11-2 at the break.

The Polar Bears put the game into running time early in the second half, pushing the lead to as many as a 11 before Endicott scored the final two goals of the game to trim the final margin to nine.

Bowdoin out-shot Endicott, 28-10, and forced the Gulls into 22 turnovers. Williams and Hirschfeld finished with three goals each for Bowdoin, while Finnerty and Gallagher had two goals and an assist apiece.

Endicott was led by three goals and an assist from Meghan Lennon.

Defensively, Maura Grady (five saves) played the first half in goal for Endicott before giving way to Bella Rino (six saves) in the second period. Ali Campbell had a team-best four ground balls.

Bowdoin’s Kayli Weiss made two saves in the opening half of play before Erin Morrissey (two saves) entered for the second half. Gallagher had a team-high four ground balls, while Grace DeWald had three. Anisa LaRochelle had two caused turnovers for Bowdoin, while Finnerty led all players with four draw controls.

Bowdoin hosts Williams tonight at 7 p.m. in makeup action.

Baseball

Bowdoin suffered its second consecutive series sweep as the Polar Bears fell to University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh, 10-0 and 6-1, Wednesday afternoon.

The Polar Bears are 4-8 with one series left in their Florida schedule. The Titans improved to 5-4.

The Titans took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in the opener and added three more in the third. Dylan Ott hit a bases-loaded triple to center that gave Wisconsin- Oshkosh a 4-0 lead after three. Ott drove in two more runs in the fifth with a single to center. The team added four runs to the board in the following inning off two doubles and a sacrifice fly.

Sawyer Billings went 2-for- 3 at the plate and Nick Sadler tagged a double for Bowdoin. Connor Lee suffered the loss in four innings pitched with four runs allowed. Lee surrendered eight hits.

Bowdoin managed 10 hits in game two, but produced only one run in the sixth inning.

The Titans carried a 2-0 lead after an RBI double in the third and run producing single in the sixth.

Cody Todesco put Bowdoin on the board with a double that drove in Ben Suski in the bottom of the sixth.

UW-Oshkosh put the game away in the seventh with a four-run inning.

Evann Dumont-LaPointe went 3-for-3 and Todesco was 2-for-3. Colby Lewis suffered the loss on the mound after five innings of work and two runs allowed. He recorded three strikeouts and two walks.

Men’s tennis

The Polar Bears swept singles play to dispatch eighth-ranked Redlands, 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon in California.

The third-ranked Polar Bears improved to 7-1 with the win. Redlands dropped to 9-3.

Bowdoin picked up wins in two doubles matches, getting hard-fought wins from Luke Tercek/Grant Urken (8- 6) and Justin Patel/Gil Roddy (8-6) as the Polar Bears carried a 2-1 edge into singles play.

The Polar Bears battled hard to pick up the win from there, keyed by four three-set wins. Kyle Wolfe easily picked up a victory (6-1, 6-1) at No. 3 singles, while Luke Carstens earned a straight set (6-4, 7-5) win at No. 6.

Bowdoin went the distance in their other four wins to finish off their hosts, as Tercek, Urken, Jerry Jiang and Roddy took three-set triumphs to make it an 8-1 final score.

Bowdoin closes out its California trip today when it plays Wisconsin-Whitewater at noon.
