Are you a sports fan in the Midcoast? If so, there’s only one place you need to be.

Already in full swing, our new Twitter account, @SportsMidcoast, is your go-to place for local sports coverage.

During the upcoming spring season, we’ll be providing daily scoring updates, photos, videos and more.

New to Twitter? Getting started is easy. Just head over to Twitter.com on your computer or mobile device and sign up using an email address. Once you’ve created your account, find the “Search Twitter” bar in the upper right-hand corner of the home screen and search “Times Record Sports.” Look for the @SportsMidcoast account with the TR baseball logo.

It’s here where you can keep up with Brunswick, Mt. Ararat, Morse and all the other local high schools, along with Bowdoin College, the Portland Sea Dogs and more. In our tweets, you’ll see hashtags like #mesports, #mebaseball and #VarsityMaine. These are all clickable and will send you to a stream of other accounts tweeting about sports in Maine.

But Times Record Sports is the only account you’ll find coverage of every “Battle of the Bridge” and all of your other local schools and athletes, from Lisbon, Wiscasset, Richmond, Freeport and more.

In our first season this winter, we brought you updates from hockey games, swim meets, wrestling duels and more. Earlier this month in Augusta, it was all capped off with tweets and video from the Civic Center as the Brunswick girls basketball team played in its first-ever state championship game.

If you can’t make it out to the game, we’ll keep you in the loop!

Beginning on April 13, when the high school spring season officially kicks off, these updates, along with links to published stories, will only be available from the Times Record Sports account. On the main Times Record account, @MidcoastNews, you’ll find news stories and other posts.

If you’re already on Twitter, make sure to follow us right away. If you need to get started, it only takes a few minutes. Bob Conn and I, @ByChristianSand, will be tweeting all season.

See you on Twitter!
