GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine women’s track and field program collected three citations Monday when the Little East Conference announced its first set of weekly honors for the 2017 outdoor season.

Senior Molly Gibeault was selected as the Field Athlete of the Week, and freshman Adela Kalilwa was tabbed as the Rookie Field Athlete of the Week giving the Huskies a sweep of the individual field event honors.

In addition, the Huskies’ 4 x 100-meter relay combination of freshman Jhanel Potts, seniors Neka Dias and Liz O’Neal of Brunswick and Mt. Ararat High School, and sophomore Heather Kendall was picked as the Relay of the Week.

Competing at the University of North Florida’s Spring Break Invitational, the relay quartet, competing as a unit outdoors for the first time, moved into fifth place on the Huskies’ alltime 4 x 100 relay list with their time of 49.36 seconds to rank third among New England Division III teams (first among LEC teams) and tied for 17th nationally.

Southern Maine is spending spring break week training in Florida and will compete this upcoming Friday and Saturday at the Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) Spikes Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla.
