BRUNSWICK — Preregistration has opened for the 5th Annual Run for Independence, scheduled
May 21 in Brunswick. This event offers more than $1,000 in prizes to top runners in the 5K, 10K, and 1 mile events. It benefits Independence Association, a half-century-old Maine nonprofit. Individuals and teams preregistered by April 21 are eligible for free T-shirts.
The Run for Independence is an inclusive running event that places competitive athletes on the same race courses at the same times as adults and youth with disabilities. It supports the programs of Independence Association, a Maine nonprofit founded more than a half-century ago that serves clients in more than 20 Midcoast and Central Maine communities.
Androscoggin Bank is the presenting sponsor for the event, which is supported by more than two dozen other businesses and community organizations.
Preregister as an individual or in a team at runinarace.com. Free T-shirts to individuals preregistered by April 21; free team T-shirts for groups of 5 by April 21.
