
Richard was born on June 18, 1941, to Frank and Ida Bennett in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools. He was employed for many years at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford and then as the manager of the Mousam Valley Motel in Springvale.
Richard was a motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed boating, watching auto racing, watching the boats down at Mousam Lake and at the beach in Wells and he loved going for rides in his truck. He was an outgoing and fun loving man with many friends. Richard had a wonderful sense of humor and was always a pleasure to be around. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by: his daughter, Becky May Bennett, of Biddeford; four grandchildren, Dante Bennett, of Biddeford, Christian Thomas Cunningham, of Windham, Shy-Ann May Dunn, of Plaistow, New Hampshire and Sasha-Lynn Dunn, of Plaistow, New Hampshire; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April, 17 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main St. in Springvale.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
