WILLIMANTIC, C.T. — John Parker of Brunswick has found success on the diamond for Eastern Connecticut State University.
ECSU is currently 12-9 thanks in part to pitching efforts from Parker, who is majoring in communications.
In 2016, the Warriors (23- 19 overall) earned their second Little East Conference Championship in three years. Head Coach Matt LaBranche has high hopes for Parker as the team moves closer to the Little East Tournament May 10-13.
“I’m looking for him to build on his late-season success and be a starter,” he said.
NCAA tournament play begins with eight regional tournaments, followed by the national tournament in Grand Chute, Wisc., on Memorial Day weekend.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
