Born in Bath, Maine, he was the son of the late Earle and Marjorie (Gray) Hagan.
He grew up in Georgetown Maine, graduating from Morse High School in Bath Maine. He enlisted in the Army at the end of World War II. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for the state of Maine Highway Department. During his time there he traveled a great deal and met his wife whom he married in 1947.
Starting in construction he moved on to civil engineering and received his professional engineers license in 1959.
He was ambitious, adventurous, and loved to travel. His work at Metcalf and Eddy, Anderson Nichols and Anderson and Glasier took him to such places as Greenland, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and various locations within the United States of America.
Hired to work on the Minuteman Missile Project for Boeing, he elected to remain in New England. He accepted a position within the newly formed City of Boston Public Facilities Department where he remained for 29 years. His work included 32 public schools, and numerous fire stations, police stations and hospitals. Vic’s crowning achievement and final project before retiring was the renovation of the old Boston Public Library.
For his outstanding contributions for public service, Victor received the Henry L. Shattuck Public Service Award in 1990.
Victor was a member of the Amity- Mosaic Lodge, and the Washington Chapter Royal Arch Masons.
Victor is survived by his wife Louise, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage, his devoted puppy cuddles, his children Dana Michael and Karen Hagan, Viki and Richard Ouellette, Martha and Tim Talbot, and Martha MacInnis Hagan as well as 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who he adored. He was preceded in death by his 1st son Victor E. (Butch) Hagan Jr.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) Danvers, Saturday, April 22nd at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9 to 11 A.M.
