B. Jean Tate of Woolwich, age 72, went on to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 23rd with her loving family by her side. She was happily married to Robert M. Tate for over 53 years. Born in Freeport, Maine, she was the daughter of Ernest and Marion Washburn.

She graduated from Brunswick High School and went on to work at her parent’s family business, Washburn Lumber Company. Years later, she and her husband started their own family business, R.M. Tates Store in Bath. She was a member of the East Brunswick Baptist Church for most of her life. She loved doing crafts, baking, but most of all making a happy home for her family. She treasured her time spent with loved ones, especially her grandchildren.

Everyone couldn’t help but love her. She was always thinking of others and never hesitated to drop everything to do something for her family or friends. Those close to her were truly blessed to be able to call her wife, mom, grammy, sister or friend. Her love was truly a blessing.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Bob Tate. Her daughter,

Diana and husband Brian Gilliam of Phippsburg and their children Jacklyn, Justin and Jacob; her son Bob Tate of Bath and his children Taylor and Bobby; her daughter Sharon and husband Win Dodge of Brunswick and their children Amber, Chelsea, William and Brianna. She also leaves behind a brother, Clifford Washburn and his partner Cindy and a sister, Judy Ballard along with many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, Marion and Ernest Washburn; a brother, Richard Washburn: a sister, Dorothy Schmidt; and a brother, David Washburn.

The family would like to acknowledge with sincere appreciation all of the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this difficult time.

Visiting hours will be Friday, April 28th from 6-8:00, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street in Brunswick. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, April 29th at 11:00, also at Brackett Funeral Home with interment at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Brunswick Baptist Church, PO Box 336, Brunswick, Maine 04011.
