TOPSHAM — David W. Hovey, 58, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017. David was born on May 6, 1958 in Brunswick, son of Wallace Rex Hovey, Jr. and Ada (Adams) Hovey. He was a carpenter and loving father.

David was known for his humor, always smiling and giving a nickname to everyone he met. He had a boisterous laugh that was contagious. David loved spending quality time with his family, his three daughters meant the world to him, and he made sure they knew it. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and learn. David was a talented mason tender and builder, with a strong work ethic. He enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling and riding his Harley.

He is survived by his three daughters, Amber Hovey, and her husband, Lee Ahearn of Topsham, Erica Hovey of Topsham, and Brandy Hovey of Bowdoinham; his grandchildren, Alexander Hovey, Natalie Maney and Wayne Derocher, Jr. David is also survived by his sister, Linda King of Milton, NH; and his brother, Wallace Hovey III of Topsham; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his companion, Karen Spier of Topsham, and her family.

David is predeceased by his wife, Laurie Jewett-Hovey, his mother and father, his sister, Connie McCurry, and his brothers, Allen Hovey, Carl Hovey, Rodney Hovey and Dana Hovey.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 1-4 pm at the Topsham Grange Hall, 47 Pleasant St. in Topsham.
