GORHAM — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently announced that the University of Southern Maine women’s cross country team is among its list of 389 NCAA Division III men’s and women’s cross country teams to be named All-Academic Teams for the 2016 season.
To earn the distinction as an USTFCCCA All-Academic team, the Huskies compiled a team cumulative grade point average through the fall 2016 semester of 3.17 on a 4.0 scale, and competed in and compiled a team score at the NCAA regional meet.
In addition to the team honor, senior Jasmine Boyle of Brunswick was among the 664 (374 women, 290 men) to receive individual All-Academic honors.
In order to be named USTFCCA All-Academic individual, student/athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish in the top-25 percent at their respective regional or the top-50 percent at the NCAA National Championships.
Boyle, who is majoring in business management, finished 63rd among the 406 competitors that finished at the New England Regional Championship meet and carries a 3.676 GPA.
