Marissa Parks hit a walkoff home run on the first pitch in the seventh inning to lift the Morse High School softball team to a 6-5 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Erskine Academy on Thursday.

The Shipbuilders improved to 3-1 and visit Maranacook today.

Morse held a 5-1 lead through four innings, but the Eagles battled back with a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Parks pitched well, striking out two and walking one. Micailah Albertson picked up four hits to lead Morse’s 12-hit attack, while Parks added a single, double and two RBIs. Olivia Potter also homered for the Shipbuilders, while Hope Faulkingham, Dory Kulis, Paige Faulkingham and Mikayla Rose each singled.

RICHMOND 13

Caitlin Kendrick fired a two-hitter with seven strikeouts as the host Bobcats rolled to an East-West Conference win over Valley.

Sydney Underhill-Tilton had three hits, including a home run, to pace the Richmond (5-0) offense. Emily Douin singled twice and tripled, with Meranda Martin, Camryn Hurley, Ashley Brown and Kennedy Chandler adding two singles apiece.

Michaela Marden allowed 16 hits and three walks with three strikeouts for Valley, with Kennedy Savoy and Hannah Tilton each singling.

MT. ARARAT 7

Katelyn Cox went 4-for-4 to power the Eagles (5-1) to a KVAC win in Topsham.

Alana Weaver tossed a four-hit shutout, permitting four hits and striking out six.

Cox had two doubles and drove in a run, while Weaver chipped in a pair of hits and scored twice. Kayleigh Temple had a two-run double in the sixth inning, with Zoe Stilphen, Belle Benner and Kate Guerin adding a hit apiece.

Camryn Caldwell was 2- for-3 for the Bulldogs.

Mt. Ararat is slated to visit Skowhegan on Saturday at 3 p.m.

OAK HILL 12
WISCASSET 0

The Wolverines fell behind early en route to a Mountain Valley Conference road setback.

Lindsey Gordon led the way with a pair of singles for Wiscasset (0-5), while Kelsey Jones earned a walk in both of her plate appearances. Farrah Casey and Leah Potter also singled against Oak Hill pitcher Sadie Waterman, who fanned five batters.

The Raiders got three runs in the first inning, four in the second, three in the fourth and one more in the fifth. Waterman had two singles, while Charlotte Waterman notched three singles and a triple. Kiera Young poked another triple in the second and Abby Nadeau rounded the bases on an inside-the-park homer.

Gordon made a noteworthy diving catch in the fourth inning for Wiscasset, scheduled to visit Boothbay today at 4 p.m. August Moore notched two strikeouts from the circle.

Girls lacrosse

GARDINER — Amanda Gagne led the way with four goals and one assist as Morse rolled to a 12-7 KVAC win over Gardiner.

The Shipbuilders (4-1) led 7-3 at the half.

Karen Yurek chipped in two goals and an assist in the win, with Emily Belanger finishing with two goals. Adding a goal each were Emma Warner and Emily Martin.

Zenaide McCarthy made seven saves for Morse, which visits Brunswick on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Skye LaVoie paced Gardiner with two goals, while Hailey Lovely, Madyson Smith, Claire Crocker and Brooke Andre had a goal each. Julia Hinkley made five saves for the Tigers.

Baseball

RICHMOND — Matt Rines and Justin Vachon combined on a no-hitter as Richmond rolled to an 11-1 East- West Conference win over Valley.

The Bobcats improved to 5-1 and host North Yarmouth Academy today at 3:10 p.m.

Rines went four innings with five strikeouts and a walk, while Vachon closed with one inning of relief with two strikeouts.

Rines tripled and singled to back his own cause, with Brendan Emmons picking up a triple and single, and Zach Small adding a double and a triple.

Three Valley (0-3) pitchers combined on three strikeouts, five walks and nine hits.

MT. ARARAT 9

Kaileb Hawkes had himself a day at the plate for the Eagles, going 3-for-4 with six RBIs as the Eagles picked up a KVAC win over the Bulldogs (2-4) in Topsham.

Hawkes doubled in a pair of runs in the first, hit a long two-run home run in the third and drove in two runs with a single in the fourth as Mt. Ararat (4-2) claimed an 8-2 lead.

“It had been a long time since someone hit a home run here,” said Mt. Ararat coach Bob Neron, whose Eagles are slated to visit Skowhegan on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Nick Merrill had two hits, including a double, and Hunter Lohr doubled to pace the Eagles. Kyle Brennan chipped in an RBI single, and Cam Cox had a baseknock.

On the mound, Garrett Moody earned the win, going five innings on six hits, three strikeouts and a walk. Cam Grant went two frames on one hit for the save.

Brayden Ballard, Riley Parlin and Eric Jackson combined to pitch for Lawrence (eight hits, three strikeouts, five walks), while Josh Dow and Jared Dodge each singled twice.

Boys lacrosse

BRUNSWICK —Aidan Glover picked up nine points as Brunswick rolled to a 20-5 KVAC win over Morse.

Glover had five goals and four assists, while Christian Glover added three goals and four helpers. Max Gramins also had a big game for the Dragons (5-0) with three goals.

Declan Hall tallied a pair of goals for Morse (1-2).

Brunswick is slated to visit Mt. Ararat on Monday at 6:30 p.m., while the Shipbuilders host Mt. Blue this upcoming Thursday at 5 p.m.
