BATH — The Bath Middle School baseball team defeated Lewiston, 9-2, and Mt. Ararat, 13-7, in recent action.
Against Lewiston, the Destroyers broke the game open with six runs on five hits in the fifth inning. Brogan Shaw and Gabe Aucoin paced Bath (2-2) with two hits each, while Brenton Cahill, Jansen Morrison and Gavin Ballergeron chipped in with one each.
Aucoin pitched six strong innings, recording seven strikeouts while issuing five walks and limiting Lewiston to two runs on four hits. Bath played solid team defense with aggressive base-running throughout the game.
In the Mt. Ararat game, the Destroyers sent six runs across in the second, third and fourth innings before adding four more in the sixth to ice the game. Shaw and Ty Knowlton led the way at the plate, notching three hits each. Aucoin also had a base-knock as part of a 15-hit effort from Bath.
Three different pitchers combined for eight strikeouts and eight walks, allowing eight Mt. Ararat hits. The Eagles combined aggressive base running with timely hitting in the losing effort.
