WELLS — Mary Louise Coggeshall, 91, a resident of Post Rd and active community member died Monday, May 8, 2017 at her residence with her family at her side following a period of failing health.

Mary was born April 1, 1926 in Wells, the daughter of Charles E. and Mabel L. Gott Brown, and is a graduate of Wells High School.

She married Harold R. Coggeshall in 1945, and together, they operated Coggeshall’s Garage, Harold working on the cars and Mary tending the books, for over 30 years.

A lifelong member of the Wells Congregational Church, Mary has served the church in almost all capacities, including 30 years as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, usher and music committee.

First and foremost in Mary’s life was her family, spending time with her grandchildren, also reading, knitting and sewing.

Mary is predeceased by her siblings, Harry E. Brown, John P Brown, Carl E. Brown, Charles A. Brown, Eleanor E. Wildes, Doris Clogsten and Lillian Chase.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Harold R. Coggeshall; her son Michael S. Coggeshall and wife Mary E. Coggeshall of Wells; daughters Pamela C. Bowen and her husband Wayne of Kennebunk, Linda C. Searles and her husband Joe of Wells, and Susan Coggeshall –Aikey and her husband Bill of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 15 from the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16 at the Wells Congregational Church, Post Road, Wells, with the Rev. Charity O’Martian officiating. Interment will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Southern Maine Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Mary, making her as comfortable as possible and to allow her to stay in her home until her passing.
