AREA HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUPS
Tucker Banger pounded four hits, leading the Morse High School baseball team to a big 12-5 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Nokomis on Wednesday.
The Shipbuilders are 8-2 with Mt. View scheduled to visit Bath on Friday at 4 p.m.
Banger scored two runs and drove in one, while Jackson Walker and Riley Lamarre each went 2-for-4. Walker drove in a pair and scored a run, while Lamarre picked up an RBI. Isaiah Cogswell doubled and had a team-high three RBIs, while Tait Nygaard also doubled.
Leading 3-2 after two, Morse tallied three runs in the third and added five more tallies in the fourth, with Cogswell’s two-run double highlighting the uprising.
Jackson Walker threw three innings, giving up four runs on four hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Nygaard relieved and earned the win, going two innings and picking up two punch-outs. Lamarre and Tommy Warren added a scoreless frame each.
Zach Hartsgrove led Nokomis with three hits, while Garret Burke was 2- for-3.

Nick Merrill scored on a Mt. Blue throwing error in the fifth inning to lift the Eagles to a KVAC win at Farmington.
Merrill had two singles, while Cam Cox, Sam Alexander and Hunter Lohr each singled once as Mt. Ararat improved to 5-4 and hosts Hampden Academy today at 4:15 p.m.
Kaileb Hawkes earned the mound win with five solid innings on four hits, five strikeouts and three walks (all in the first frame). Lohr earned the save, going two frames on one hit and three strikeouts.
Sean Testa doubled and tripled for Mt. Blue (3-9).

The Red Eddies rallied for seven runs in the third inning as Edward Little sailed to a KVAC victory over Brunswick, which fell to 0-9 and visits Lewiston on Friday at 4 p.m.
EL (10-2) placed 12 hits on the board. CJ Jipson posted the only extra-base tally with a double.
Kyle Hansen scattered three hits for the Dragons in the losing effort.
Girls lacrosse
BATH — Morse unleashed the offense in an 18-12 win over Cony at McMann Field.
The Shipbuilders, who improved to 6-2 and visits Mt. Ararat on Friday at 6:30 p.m., led 10-4 at the half and withstood several Ram (2-5) rallies in the second frame.
Paige Daigle had a game-high six goals and dished out an assist for Morse, while Amanda Gagne had a big six-point night (three goals, three assists). Emily Martin also had three goals and one helper, with Karen Yurek chipping in two goals. Emily Belanger and Noa Sreden each finished with a goal and two assists, while Maddie McDonough and Isabella Monbouquette had a goal and an assist. Mae Winglass added two helpers.
Faith Leathers-Pouliot led Cony with four goals. Lauren Coniff chipped in three goals and two assists, with Kami Lambert adding two goals and an assist.

Defending state champion Messalonskee received six goals from Ally Turner for a KVAC win in Topsham.
Mt. Ararat fell to 1-7 despite four goals from Emily Welch and a goal each from Shannon Harty and Fiona Hoang.
Katie Seekins chipped in four goals for the victors, with Lydia Dexter and Lauren Pickett adding a hat trick each.
Casi Perow had six saves in the Mt. Ararat cage.
Softball
FARMINGTON — Alana Weaver earned her seventh win on 11 strikeouts as Mt. Ararat rolled to a 6-0 KVAC win over Mt. Blue.
Kate Guerin led the offense, going 3-for-4 in the win. Weaver, Katelyn Cox and Kayleigh Temple each had two hits, with Temple driving in a pair. Holly Temple added a double.
Mt. Ararat scored four runs in the seventh to put Mt. Blue away.
Kayleigh Fontaine and Gracie Foss went 2-for-3 for the Cougars.
The Eagles improved to 8- 1 and host Hampden Academy in a make-up game today at 4:15 p.m.

The Shipbuilders scored two runs in the third and fourth innings, then added four more in the fifth en route to a KVAC win over Nokomis at Newport.
Marissa Parks pitched and hit Morse to the win, singling three times and driving in three runs while striking out six in 4 2/3 innings. Dory Kulis relieved and struck out five of the final seven Warrior hitters for the save.
Mikayla Rose and Maddie Mitchell each singled twice, with Micailah Albertson adding a two-run double. Hope Faulkingham and Olivia Potter added a single each.
Austin Leighton doubled twice for Nokomis.
Morse is 7-3 and hosts Mt. View on Friday at 4 p.m.

Kylie Bureau took a no hitter into the final inning as Edward Little defeated Brunswick in KVAC play.
Bureau received offensive support as the Red Eddies (9- 2) collected 10 hits. EL started off the contest by scoring seven runs in the first inning.
“We misplayed a couple of balls and they found some holes to drop in two hits, stressing our defensive play in the first,” commented Brunswick coach Hugh Dwyer. “From that point on we played extremely well in the field.”
Grace Beaded reached base four times for EL with a single, double and three runs scored. Anna LeBlanc and Caleigh Copeland added two hits as well for the Red Eddies to spark their offense.
Shelby Plourde scorched a double to the left-center field gap for Brunswick’s first hit. Shea Sullivan followed with a solid single to move Plourde to third. Keturah Stinson drove Plourde home to end Bureau’s shutout.
Brunswick (0-9) hits the road for a couple of weekend games against Lewiston of Friday and Messalonskee on Saturday.

The visiting Raiders received a two-hit shutout from Nicole Bennett en route to a Western Maine Conference win at Freeport.
The Falcons fell to 1-9 and visit Gray-New Gloucester on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Fryeburg Academy (7-2) had 14 hits, led by Mackenzie Buzzell with three.
Abbye Koenig and Brianna Toothaker had a single each for Freeport.

In a rematch of last year’s Class C South regional final, the host Bulldogs got the better of the Greyhounds in Mountain Valley Conference play.
Whitney Bess was 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the win, while Madline Wood went seven solid frames with three strikeouts and five hits allowed.
Giana Russo led Lisbon with two hits and an RBI.
The Greyhounds are 7-3 and host Hall-Dale today at 4 p.m.

Freshman shortstop Aneah Bartlett cracked a two-run single and a triple for four RBIs as Telstar cruised to an MVC victory over Wiscasset.
The Rebels (7-3) put 13 runs on the board in the first three innings. Senior center fielder Natasha Hart had a pair of two-run singles for four RBIs for Telstar.
Stephanie Jones had two hits and scored a run for the Wolverines (1-9) in the losing effort.
