KENNEBUNKPORT —Carolyn Dargis Higgins, 76, a longtime resident of Kennebunkport, died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Andre’s Health Care Facility in Biddeford following a lengthy illness.

Carolyn was born in Ellsworth, Maine. April 23, 1941, the daughter of Edward and Agnes Royal Dargis. Moving to Kennebunk as a young girl, she is a graduate of Kennebunk High School, Class of 1959.

A mother who loved her job, she worked tirelessly to make her home a place of comfort for family and friends. Always ready to support her children in the myriad of activities that they participated in, from sports to scouting, even serving as a girl scout leader for many years. Carolyn enjoyed many hobbies, including quilting, sewing, knitting and most of all cooking for her large family holidays and celebrations.

She is predeceased by her son, Scott Alan Higgins, who died in 2012.

Survivors include her first son, Mark Pederzini of Nashua, New Hampshire; son Shawn Higgins of Kennebunkport; three daughters, Susan Richardson of Greenville, Sheri LeRoy of Kennebunkport and Stacy Babb of Gorham; former husband William Higgins of Greenville; two brothers, Paul Dargis and wife Karen of Kennebunk and Robert Dargis of Chelsea, Massachusetts; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sons- and daughter-in-law who she loved like her children – EJ Richardson, Gary LeRoy, Sarah Higgins, and Todd Babb. She will be fondly remembered by many, especially her friends from Camp Megamesena.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk, with Pastor Richard Horner officiating.
