GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine men and women’s track and field teams will be sending nine athletes to the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and the University of Mount Union are serving as the hosts.
Representing the men’s program will be sophomores Jared Marshall and Drew Gamage, and senior Connor Harris. The competitors for the women’s program include freshmen Adela Kalilwa (Lewiston, Maine) and Jhanel Potts, and seniors Neka Dias, Molly Gibeault, Hannah Damron (Windham, Maine) and Liz O’Neal (Brunswick, Maine/Mt. Ararat).
Marshall will compete in the 110-meter hurdles while Harris and Gamage will participate in the triple jump. Dias, an indoor All-American in the 60-meter hurdles, qualified for the 100-meter hurdles. Gibeault, also in indoor All-American, will be in the field for the pole vault. Kalilwa will compete in triple jump, and Damron will compete in the women’s heptathlon. Potts, Dias, O’Neal and Kalilwa will combine to run in the 4 x 100-meter relay.
Marshall and Dias will compete in preliminary round races on Friday. The men and women’s triple jump will be contest on Saturday.
