BRUNSWICK — A Brunswick High School student has been named Maine’s ACT student readiness exemplar.

Margaret Dickinson, a four-year honor student, three-sport athlete, and published poet was awarded a $500 scholarship for the achievement. The ACT College and Career Readiness Campaign celebrates achievement and creates awareness around the goal of college and career readiness. It was developed to shine a light on students and institutions doing more with less, overcoming obstacles, and serving as examples to others, said a media release.

Dickinson plans on majoring in education at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Dickinson, a captain of her softball and volleyball teams, is a national honor society member and has dedicated more than 100 hours to community service. She also plans to play volleyball and softball teams at the collegiate level.

“The individuals and groups named ACT state exemplars demonstrate perseverance and innovative thinking in the face of adversity, and serve as examples to others working to improve college and career readiness for all, “ said Scott Montgomery, ACT senior vice president of public affairs.
