Anya Chase got the win in the circle for Wells, pitching seven innings and allowing just two hits while striking out 11 and walking no batters.
Wells’ first run came when Sam Bogue hit a sacrifice grounder to score Chase. Sara Ring would later hit a solo homerun to score Wells’ only other run.
Yarmouth would load the bases in the seventh, but Chase would strike out the next three batters to secure the win.
Biddeford 5, MGA 1
The Biddeford Lady Tigers softball team defeated Maine Girls Academy 5-1 on Tuesday in Portland.
The Tigers opened up the scoring in the top of the first on a leadoff single by Abby O’Connor, who was then bunted over to second by Katie Stewart and scored on an RBI double by Alex Chase.
The visitors scored two more in the fourth on a RBI’s by Chantel Gagnon and O’Connor that scored Chantel Perreault and Lexi Matteau.
Brook Davis led off the fifth with a single and later scored on a wild pitch. The final run was scored on a Brook Davis double that scored Chase.
Katie Stewart pitched a complete game allowing five hits and striking out nine batters.
O’Connor and Chase had three hits and Davis and Matteau were the other repeat hitters.
Tigers (6-7) play home on Wednesday against Westbrook.
Girls Lacrosse
Marshwood 14, Biddeford 2
The Tigers dropped a 14-2 decision to visiting Marshwood on Tuesday at UNE. Marin Smith led Marshwood with four goals while Ragean Nichols added three goals and four assists. Marshwood goalie Skyler Amsden recorded 17 saves in the cage.
Paige Laverriere and Peyton McKeown scored Biddeford’s lone goals, while goalie Ella McKenzie tallied seven saves.
Baseball
St. Dom’s 5, OOB 4
The Seagulls dropped a tough decision to St. Dominic’s on Tuesday.
St. Dom’s quickly took a 4-0 lad in the first ever, however OOB would tie the score by scoring four runs over three innings. St. Dom’s would get the go-ahead run in the sixth to secure the win.
Evan O’Donnell led OOB with two hits and two RBI’s while Joe McCullum also added tow hits and two RBI’s.
Matt Hurley pitched five innings for OOB, allowing four runs on five huts while collecting two strikeouts.
