BATH — Frances J. Doughty, 87, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.

She was born in Bath on March 19, 1930, a daughter of Eleazer and Emma (Curran) Babine.

She attended Bath Schools and graduated from Morse High School and on June 4, 1948 she married Elmer C. Doughty. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 15 years at Winship Green and then Mere Point in Brunswick, retiring in 1998.

She enjoyed candle pin bowling, Bingo and was a musician playing at several spots in the Midcoast area including the Yankee Clipper in Bath.

She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer C. Doughty on October 4, 1982, two daughters, Janet Greenleaf and Gail Collins, and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Elmer C. Doughty, Jr. and his wife Linda of Bowdoinham and Seth N. Doughty of Warren, three daughters, Lois Burnham of Warren, Holly Kavanagh and her husband Robert of Kingston, NY and Helen Bradford of Brunswick, two sisters, Elizabeth Crocker of Bath and Theresa Butterfield of SC, 22 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Coastal Humane Society, 190 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, 04011.
